Your trust matters to us. This policy explains what YapNav collects, why, and the control you have over your information — in plain language.
01Information we collect
When you join the waitlist, we collect the email address you provide and a label noting where you signed up. When you use the YapNav app, we collect the information needed to navigate you: your device location while a trip is active, the destinations you search, and basic account details (such as your name and email from your sign-in provider).
We also collect limited diagnostic and usage data — such as crash reports and feature interactions — to keep the app reliable and to improve it over time.
02How we use your information
We use your location to provide turn-by-turn directions and to identify relevant points of interest along your route for in-character commentary. We use your account information to manage your subscription and entitlements. We use your email to send you product and account communications, including waitlist and launch updates.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not sell or share your location data with advertisers.
03Location data
Location access is used only while you are actively navigating, plus background location where you have granted it so guidance continues with your screen off. You can revoke location permission at any time in your device settings, and you can clear your stored location history from within the YapNav app under Settings → Privacy.
04Clone-A-Voice and consent
Clone-A-Voice creates a private voice persona only with the verified consent of the person being cloned. The subject must confirm a one-time verification code and record a short spoken consent statement before any voice is generated — a purchase alone never creates a voice.
Cloned voices are private to the account that created them. The subject may revoke their consent at any time, after which the cloned voice is deactivated and the associated voice data is deleted.
05Third-party services
YapNav relies on a small number of trusted providers to function, including Mapbox for maps and routing, our cloud database and hosting providers, app-store billing through Apple and Google, and the voice and AI services that power persona audio and commentary. These providers process data on our behalf under their own commitments.
06Your rights and choices
You can access, correct, or delete your account information, and you can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time from within the app or by contacting us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws.
07Data retention and security
We retain personal information only for as long as needed to provide the service and to meet legal obligations. We protect your data with industry-standard safeguards, and secrets and credentials are kept in secure configuration — never embedded in the app or our public code.
